Living abroad
Without a doubt, being born to Czech Republic, having Czech as a mother tonque, I feel Czech. And I do love to get back there to see my grandparents and family, friends as I miss them a lot being abroad. At the same time, wherever I have lived so far, I have felt home. Home is where my family is. No matter which location I have been living currently, irrelevant of the distance, culture, religion or language spoken.
Home is where the heart is. Yes, packing and moving for another time could be bit challanging, saying goodbye once again to your friends, but brings so many new opportunities, chances to visit places and to meet new people. No regrets so far…
Real paradise if you love nature, hiking spectacular mountains of Caucasus and meeting the people…
Country of wine heritage and amazing food, where you meet stray dogs on each corner. Bit of hell coping with the local crazy drivers.
Cultural place with lot of adorable and different traditions and stories in each region, full of dedicated, strong and brave people who come with flexible solution to any issue and are living the same as they grandparents did decades ago.
Region of many and ongoing disputes, country with strong roots and characters.
Country with very touching history, proving meeting the cultures and the co-existence of different ethnics, religions within one region can be truly difficult, still possible.
I continued to listen to muezzins during Ramadans in Sarajevo, adoring the brave men diving from Mostar bridge, experiencing the powder snow of Jahorina and Bjelasnica…Tasting chevapi and ice-cream, hiking to Lukomir, reaching few of Bosnian summits, visiting the old castles and amazing waterfalls…
My first touch to completely different environment, culture, religion…
There were amazing (playing with sand on beach) and strong moments (Arab spring revolution) over my first year of life in Tunisia. With my wonderfull nanny Monja cooking couscous and singing all the time, listening to muezzins from the nearby mosque every morning, discovering the old town markets, trying whether the carpets would fly:-) Swimming and laughing when my grandparents came to visit me.
Tunisia, country of muezzins, olives, sunshine, pitoresque architecture and roman mosaics. Every spice different, just try…
